Hello ROSE fans!
We are pleased to announce the release of our Gem balance update!
This change is the result of extensive internal discussions and community feedback regarding maximum stats and the overall power level of Gems. In their previous form, Gems were significantly underpowered compared to maximum stats. Given the effort required to obtain both, crafting Gems felt unrewarding for most players, with only a few exceptions worth pursuing. This shifted the endgame meta heavily toward dungeons for stat progression, leaving the Artisan in an awkward position.
Our goal with this update is to address this imbalance and restore the Artisan to a central role in the economy. Rather than simply nerfing maximum stats, we chose a different approach. Compared to naROSE just before its shutdown, we removed substantial sources of power, including Runes, Item Mall skills, and certain overpowered items. Many players have felt the absence of that power ever since. So we decided to buff Gems across the board, bringing their overall value closer to their original iROSE levels while extending that progression further for Gems 8, 9, and 10.
Our target is for maximum stats to be roughly comparable to Gem 7 or 8, while keeping Gem 9 and 10 as the true endgame pursuit for ROSE. However, this adjustment highlighted another problem. Gems 9 and 10 are currently extremely difficult to craft because the required materials drop in very low quantities and are heavily time-gated by fixed King spawns. This has driven their market prices to unreasonable levels, even though demand remains low since maximum stats generally outperform them.
A major content patch is coming soon that will allow players to farm these high-tier materials (Prismatic Lattice and Large Orbs) in meaningful quantities without time gates. This new content is designed specifically for endgame players and provides the high-difficulty PvM environment ROSE has been missing, where these materials can drop at appropriate rates.
The second issue we wanted to tackle is Gem farming. Historically, Gems could be obtained by farming specific monsters or completing certain quests. Currently, however, the primary method in the economy is through dungeons, specifically Jewel Chest (V), because it is far more cost-effective to begin crafting at that level than to start from lower-tier Crystals or Gems 1-3 dropped by Ghosts. This has created the illogical situation where a Gem 4 can cost more than a Gem 5. It has also drastically reduced demand for Chemicals and Hearts, lowering the value of Dirty Hearts, Dirty Crystals, and Chemicals overall. Players have long expressed frustration that ROSE was becoming a "dungeon simulator," and having dungeons also dominate Gem farming only worsened that feeling.
To address this, we are removing Jewel Chest (V) from dungeon drop tables and replacing it with another item of comparable market value. This change should encourage farmers to return to open-world farming for Gem crafting materials, restore logical progression in Gem pricing from level 1 to 10, and increase the value of Dirty Crystals and Hearts. Newer players should benefit significantly by being able to sell these lower-tier materials for better prices. We have additional changes planned to further improve open-world farming balance and bring more life to the world of ROSE Online.
